Meat Manager


This is a Full-time position in See description posted August 10, 2017.

The Meat Manager is responsible for supervising and facilitating the daily operations of the department according to set goals and business objectives. Daily operations include supervision of staff, customer satisfaction, product quality assurance and department maintenance during a 42 hour work week.


  • Supervising and facilitating the daily operations of the department.
  • Provide direction, guidance and instruction to all department employees as required.
  • Ensure the department conditions are consistently upheld to established standards.
  • Greet and assist customers in a way that models exemplary conduct to the other staff.
  • Ensure company policies are consistently adhered to and upheld by all employees.
  • Handle customer complaints as they arise, escalating to the appropriate individual as deemed necessary.
  • Ensure that all health and safety issues are adhered to and required standards met.
  • Oversee and assist in inventory management, including ordering of product.
  • Ensures quality of work is free from errors, accurate and reliable; setting a positive example by maintaining and exceeding quality standards set within the department.
  • Makes sure output of work exceeds that of the other team members, keeping a constant pace and delegating when necessary.
  • Manages paperwork in a timely fashion; receiving order and ensuring invoice accuracy.
  • Communicates with Senior Management regularly with regards to any issues affecting the department.
  • Responsible for meat cutting and displaying product in merchandising case
  • Responsible for opening and closing the store.
  • Responsible for ensuring accuracy of store signage with regards to pricing.
  • Creating weekly schedule, approving timecards, and meeting established deadlines.
  • Merchanding department displays daily; Ensures quality and freshness of product.
  • Ensure that all product is properly rotated at all times. Maintain a clean and sanitary department at all times.
  • Take physical inventory of department merchandise and inventory as necessary.
  • Provide ongoing performance management training and conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports.
  • Other duties as required.


  • Minimum of 1-3 years work experience in the grocery industry; specifically in produce
  • Minimum 3 years of meat cutting experience (including using a bandsaw)
  • Able to communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Good organizational, time management, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Professional demeanor under stressful situations
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer services and troubleshooting skills
  • Able to work flexible schedules, weekends and evenings as required
  • Able to work in various temperatures
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
