Handy Person / General Laborer (Summer Contract)

PSP Military Housing was created in 1961 to provide housing for Junior Non-Commissioned Members posted to the National Capital Region. PSP Military Housing consists of 519 three-bedroom townhouses and 26 three-bedroom bungalows.

Under the supervision of the PSP Military Housing Superintendent, the general labourer/handyperson will be responsible for all general labour/maintenance work required in housing units. This will include everything from plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, heating and cooling services, appliance repair and other building and property maintenance and repair work.


Education, Certifications and Licenses

An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience will be considered


Valid driver’s license class “G” or equivalent


In operating hand and power tools in a carpentry shop
In operating equipment for landscaping and general maintenance
In building repair and maintenance
In drywall repairs and general painting
In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail, and Internet browsing


Of general maintenance, repairs and improvement practices and techniques
Of grounds keeping practices and techniques
Of general electrical work
Of general plumbing work
Of general carpentry work
Of health and safety practices

Competencies, Skills and Abilities
