THE ROLE
The Kitchen Supervisor plans and organizes day-to-day operations, food production and services. They prepare, cook and serve food in accordance with menus, established and standardized recipes, and production control charts. The Kitchen Supervisor monitors and controls inventory, orders and receives stock and food supplies. They decorate or garnish plates and dishes to suit the occasion. They supervise staff, prepare employee work schedules, train staff in job duties and sanitation and safety procedures, and also participate in the selection of staff, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND several years experience in hospitality, food and beverage service, or in a related field
Experience
In safe food handling practices and procedures
In applying policies, procedures and regulations
In food preparation techniques, methods and procedures
In cooking, baking, and food preparation techniques, methods and procedures
In calculating and controlling food costs
In personnel administration
In using software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, e-mail and Internet browsing
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

English Essential, Bilingual an asset

This Category I unionized position is open to all interested parties. Preference will be granted in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the PSAC bargaining unit for NPF Category I employees at CFB Kingston.
