Manager, Online Category Optimization – 12 month contract

Position Purpose

Here’s where you come in! We are seeking an Online Category Optimization Manager that will optimize the customer experience for all categories on Homedepot.ca. Reporting to the Director of User Experience , you will lead a team of analysts in conducting research competitive analysis, A/B and user tests, analyzing/interpreting data to make recommendations, to ultimately build category specific shopping strategies and implement them from beginning-to-end. You will work with Marketing Managers, Merchants and cross-functional partners to understand business objectives and customer needs, then work with your team to deliver strategies based on their recommendations. You will educate key stakeholders on best practices and guide the analysts’ approach to managing their categories. For this role, the successful candidate must always have the customer in mind and enjoy a fast-paced environment that requires them to juggle competing demands on a daily basis. Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of analysts in reviewing quantitative and qualitative data to garner insights and identify areas of opportunity for their assigned categories
  • Build category specific strategies for optimizing customer research and ultimately sales
  • Review wireframes and make recommendations to ensure established UX standards are being followed and responsive design considerations are being taken into account
  • Build and validate digital strategies, then provide guidance and feedback
  • Onboard new analysts and provide ongoing training, support and mentorship while developing their skill set
  • Build and prepare strategic plans + actionable recommendations to senior leadership i.e. senior managers, directors and VPs
  • Work with merchandising and marketing to clarify business needs while keeping our customer needs top of mind
  • Act as a subject matter expert, within the organization, on category optimization
  • Reduce friction and improve the path to product for our customers
  • Develop and spearhead new internal processes that increase efficiency for the team and improve alignment with key stakeholders
  • Work closely with the Online Experience Reporting & Analytics Lead to establish quarterly benchmarks & determine the ROI for your team’s ongoing optimization activities
Experience / Knowledge Required:
  • Internal Candidates: Must fulfill minimum time-in-position (1 year) and performance management code requirements (M+, Meets expectation, Consistently demonstrates).
  • Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in any of the following: Business, Digital Strategy or Economics
  • Previous experience in e-commerce and/or UX
  • Previous experience managing a team of 2 – 4 and exceptional leadership skills
  • Builds positive relationships and navigates challenges with ease
  • Strong ability to influence decision making and successfully manage organizational change
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong excel skills and an aptitude for data analysis
  • Self-starter and results oriented
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at once and competing requests
  • Open minded and collaborative
  • Strong attention to detail
  • The ability to understand cross-functional goals and objectives
  • High comfort level working in a fast paced environment
  • Previous experience working with Adobe Omniture or Adhoc an asset
  • Years of Relevant Work Experience: 6 – 8
