Mess Manager

The Mess Manager plans, coordinates, manages, monitors, and evaluates the operations and delivery of messes’ activities and facilities. She/he plans, coordinates, manages, monitors, and evaluates the operations and delivery of bars’ services. She/he enforces the requirements for health, hygiene, safety, and security standards and programs. She/he ensures strict enforcement of provincial liquor legislation and DND, CF, and B/W/U policies concerning the responsible serving of alcohol, employee drinking restrictions, and customer behaviour. She/he develops and implements marketing strategy for messes’ activities and facilities.


Education, Certifications and Licenses

High school diploma

Provincial Responsible Service of Alcohol certification, as required


  • Several years of experience in the food service sector, or in a related hospitality field, including supervisory experience
  • In coordinating bar operations services
  • In coordinating banquets and functions
  • In inventory and bar management
  • In negotiating service contracts
  • In preparing marketing strategies
  • In managing facilities
  • In budget administration
  • In personnel administration
