THE ROLE
The Museum Gift Shop Clerk operates a cash register, maintains a float, receives payment by cash, cheque, credit card or automatic debit and performs refunds, voids, and returns, as necessary. They maintain inventory, track purchases and sales and assist in the display of merchandise. They prepare reports from manual or electronic files, inventories, mailing lists or databases.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND some years of experience in retail and basic accounting or bookkeeping
Experience
In maintaining inventory
In cash handling
In basic accounting principles and practices
In office administration
In using a Point of Sale (POS) system
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

English Essential, Bilingual an asset

OTHER INFORMATION
From September to April the shop is closed on weekends other than special occasions, and there may be occasional evenings and weekend work. Weekly hours would be between 32.5-37.5 as museum business hours are Monday to Friday 8 am to 4 pm.
From May to end of August the shop is open 7 days a week; during this time there will be a requirement to work weekends.
This Category I unionized position is open to all interested parties. Preference will be granted in accordance with the Collective Agreement for the PSAC bargaining unit for NPF Category I employees at CFB Kingston.
