THE ROLE
Since its inception, Hylands Golf Club has matured into a top-quality golf facility that offers a full range of services and amenities to its 1200 members and their guests. A true jewel among Canadian Forces golf facilities, Hylands continues to host numerous regional, national and international events. As part of CFMWS, our mandate is to provide affordable golf to our local military personnel and their families.
Under the supervisor of the Manager Golf and Operations, the pro shop attendant is the first point of contact in the Golf Professional Shop. The Pro Shop offers course members a variety of merchandise available for sale from clothing, accessories and golf equipment.
The pro shop attendant will greet customers, respond to enquiries, provide information on merchandise and advise customers of golf course conditions and general rules and regulations. The incumbent will be responsible for booking tee times, conducting sales transactions, cash handling and deposits of all funds for daily green fees, equipment rentals and Pro Shop Merchandise.
The pro shop attendant washes range balls, ensures sufficient buckets are available for next day’s use, cleans golf clubs, and places them in registered storage. The incumbent will also distribute golf clubs to registered users, as requested, assist customers with carrying or loading of golf bags, signs out rental equipment and explains borrowing procedures. The pro shop attendant prepares golf carts by cleaning, fueling and inspecting for deficiencies.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND some years’ experience in a related field
Experience
In merchandising, marketing and display set-up
In using a Point of Sale (POS) system
In using general office equipment
In cash handling
Knowledge
Of golf course operations
Of inventory control procedures
Of retail operations
Of health and safety practices
Of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
English or French Essential, Bilingual an asset
