THE ROLE
Fitness, sports, recreation and health promotion programs are delivered by PSP on Bases, Wings and Units across Canada and in deployed operations. PSP delivers evidence-based programs, which contribute to the health and well-being of the military community and operational effectiveness of the CAF.
Under the supervision of the Aquatics & Recreation Coordinator, the Senior Lifeguard will assist with the planning, delivery and evaluation of aquatic programs. As the Senior Lifeguard, you will ensure the safety of patrons and employees by maintaining surveillance of the pool and pool areas as well as supervise employees and perform lifeguard duties, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
An acceptable combination of education, training and experience will be considered
AND
Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification
Current CPR level C and Standard First Aid certification
Experience
In dealing with the public, including, but not limited to, children
In performing lifeguard duties
In cash handling
In employee supervision
In applying policies, procedures and applicable regulations
In preparing and conducting/instructing aquatic training sessions
Knowledge
Of life guarding/safety techniques and procedures
Of lifesaving methods and procedures
Of injury prevention practices
Of pool sanitation and chlorination systems
Of rules and regulations governing conduct of the public at pools
Of health and safety practices
Of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), an asset
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
Bilingual essential

High degree of focus required
Perform moderate lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing (i.e. more than 10 lbs/4.5 kg but less than 50 lbs/23 kg)
The anticipated Term of this position is June 6, 2023 – September 5, 2023.
Multiple positions available.
Must be available for a combination of day, evening and weekend shifts and able to work outdoors
The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Record Check (Vulnerable Sector) at their own expense.
This is an on-site position. Remote work is not available for this position
