Registered Nurse

This is a Contract position in Newmarket, ON posted May 10, 2021.

Your Opportunity: As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.

In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families.

You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance.

You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.Responsibilities Collecting objective and subjective data relevant to the patient’s/resident’s and/or family’s health patterns.

Identifying changes in the patient’s specific health patterns and attempting to formulate nursing diagnoses/problem, statements and relevant patient care outcomes.

Assessing nursing care on an on-going basis.

Ensuring all assessment data is communicated and documented.

Identifying learning needs of the patient and family, unique needs and preferences, and ability to learn.

Determining the patient’s/resident’s and family’s ability/desire to participate in care, the necessity to involve other members of the health team in ongoing care, and planning for discharge.

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000.

This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA).

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
– Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications: Certification as required within the scope of the job.

Demonstrated knowledge of commonly encountered disease entities, the associated nursing diagnoses/problem statement, the effects of medical and surgical interventions, and the concomitant nursing interventions required.

Experience with application of professional knowledge, technical and interpersonal skills, and clinical judgment in the delivery of professional nursing.

Ability to handle heavy or awkward items (lifting, transferring, carrying), and withstand considerable walking or standing.

Ability to be physically confined to an area due to job demands.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of all patient information and health records.

Ability to adhere to nursing policy and practice standards.

Ability to maintain adherence to Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics.

Ability to identify own strengths and weaknesses and showing initiative for improvement.

Ability to work effectively and efficiently with others and accept change.

Preferred Qualifications: Please note, this facility provides Long Term Care (LTC) or Designated Supportive Living (DSL) services and by Order of the Chief Medical Officer of Health, many AHS employees are restricted to work only at a single LTC/DSL site for the remainder of the pandemic.
