THE ROLE

Under the director of the Director IM/IT Business Services, the Solution Architect is a hands on individual focused on the technology. The Solution Architect understands business objectives and plans, designs, manages, and ensures technical integrity and consistency of the system/solution/product throughout every stage of its lifecycle to meet the business goals. You will be:

  • Responsible for architectural guidance and recognizing technical risks. Provides strategic advice to product line managers and technical support to the product teams including tools, reusable technology and coaching on architectural guidelines.
  • Responsible for the development of strategic directions for solutions, including the development/enhancement of architectural viewpoints, models, roadmaps and designs to map out and evolve components that align within the CFMWS enterprise architecture. This requires the completion of comprehensive business transformation and architecture assessments as well as complex reviews in support of system/infrastructure needs of our product.
  • Responsible for leading change for on-premises/cloud adoption and/or hybrid, and taking the vision and overseeing the entire chosen process for the product. Developing, maintaining the co-coordination of the adoption process is paramount.
  • Responsible for understanding CFMWS’s Business, Application, Information (Data), Security and Technology/Cloud domains and the effective integration of solutions into the broader business and enterprise IT landscape. Contribute towards enterprise architecture policies, standards, guidelines, best practices and ensure compliance with CFMWS and industry standards.
  • Responsible for liaising with vendors to understand product architecture, integrations, and development roadmap; and collaborating with CFMWS staff to ensure awareness and alignment of vendor product with CFMWS environment and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration, or in a related field, AND some years of experience in technical architecture, application architecture, solution architecture or in a related field

Demonstrated understanding of industry standards, architecture frameworks and methodologies including TOGAF, Zachman, Federal Enterprise Architecture Frameworks

Certifications in TOGAF, IASA (IT Architect) or Azure Cloud, an asset

Experience

Five (5) + years of experience in Solution Architecture with demonstrated expertise in one or more architecture domains such as business, information/data, application/integration, technology/cloud, security including the following specific experience:

  • End-to-end solution design and architecture
  • Systems architecture and technical architecture and design
  • Retail and eCommerce solutions
  • eCommerce enterprise resource planning (ERP)
  • DevOps practices
  • Using formal architecture frameworks and modeling tools integrated solution design
  • Software integration and relational databases
  • Multi-technology environments
  • Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, and Reporting
  • Leading multi-application development team
  • Providing advice on strategic issues
  • Creating and facilitating presentations

English or French Essential, Bilingual an asset

OTHER INFORMATION

  • This position has an assigned location and may allow flexible work options such as remote or hybrid work but the employee must be able to report to the assigned work location at their own cost if required. In the event that we don’t find a local candidates, employee located anywhere in Canada will also be considered. Remote work may be required depending on health and safety considerations.
  • You may be eligible to receive a Scarce Skills Premium for this position as outlined in the attached IT Scarce Skills Compensation Agreement.
