THE ROLE
Under the direction of the Translation Services Manager, the Translator-Reviser independently manages workload to meet deadlines by evaluating incoming requests, negotiating due dates with clients, outsourcing documents as required and establishing priorities. They translate independently written material from English to French, often under tight deadlines, and maintains the intent and style of the original material. They coordinate freelance services, acting as a liaison between customer and contractor, and revises outsourced French and English documents for quality control. They proofread translated material and corrects spelling, grammar, punctuation and typing errors before publication. They also perform terminological research and creates related records for the translation database.
This position will be working primarily with CANEX, the retail division of CFMWS, and therefore will be focused mostly on marketing and retail-related documents.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED
Education, Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Translation, or in a related field, AND at least five (5) years of experience in translation, or in a related field
Experience
In translating from English to French in a retail environment, including but not limited to product descriptions, marketing and training material
In transcreating marketing material
In revising documents
In proofreading
In terminological research
In assessing translation demands
In negotiating deadlines and managing changing priorities in a multi client environment
In resolving terminology concerns to ensure consistency of English and French communication

OTHER INFORMATION
Annual salary: $74,830 – $88,070 (salary under review)
The selection process will be done virtually.
This is a remote position and the employee can be located anywhere in Canada but must be available between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m Eastern Time (ET). On-site or a hybrid arrangement is also possible depending on the employee’s preference. Remote work may be required depending on health and safety considerations.
